Comfort of authentic Bedouin camp

The location of the camp is particularly fortunate, even compared to the broader landscapes of Wadi Rum, UNESCO listed for their natural beauty. There are a number of comfortable isolated places to relax within the camp but away from the primary infrastructure. These locations offer an opportunity to experience the silence and isolation of the desert. The stillness, calmness and quiet of the desert is meditative and almost hypnotic. These locations within the broader ranges of the camp offer a special opportunity to feel the truth of the desert.

We welcome everyone to take this opportunity to fall in love with the desert.

Bathroom, Toilet & Shower

The camp is equipped with modern bathroom facilities. Facilities include hot running water from our gravity fed system. Bathroom are gender segregated with western style flushing toilets, conventional showers and sinks.

We have luxury tents with private bathrooms as well as traditional tents which use the shared facilities. Water is scarce in the desert and we ask guests to be conscious of this. We maintain storage beyond our requirements to ensure we always have enough water. For the comforts of guests the bathrooms are not consistent with the traditional Bedouin facilities. However the private ensuite bathrooms have been designed in an Arabic style for the pleasure of guests.

Common Areas

The camp is isolated within the desert with endless nature to explore on your doorstep. In addition, Bedouin camps have a large tent where they host guest, eat meals and socialise.

You are welcome to join us in our communal tent at any time, where you will find a fireplace, Bedouin tea and cold water at all hours. Come and join us to share your stories.

The tent has windows that can be open during the day for panoramic views. It is also decorated with a variety of traditional elements making it a comfortable place to relax on cold winter nights.

Endless tea and mineral water

We provide tea, coffee and water. These are available at all times in our communal tent.

We provide both sweet Bedouin tea with herbal infusions as well as black tea. Hot water is available with both instant and Arabic coffee options. Cold mineral water is also available from a dispenser at all times.

Off Grid System

Our camp is located within the protected area with no connection to services. The camp operates a solar network with battery bank and AC inverter. This ensures that lights and electricity for charging devices is available 24 hours. We have 30,000+ litre water capacity on a gravity fed system that provides running water in all bathrooms. We transport this water from a spring outside the Protected Area by truck. There are gas hot water systems that use instant boiling technology. Luxury tents have independent systems and the shared bathrooms are turned on for an hour each morning and evening.

Camp Meals – Bedouin Food

The live in chef prepares all meals. Breakfast is similar to those found throughout Jordan. It include hummus, salad, yogurt, labneh, eggs, fool, jam, cheese, halva, olives, dates, fruits and flat bread.

Dinner is cooked in a traditional underground oven, called Zarb. This is a local cooking method of an oven dug into the sand and cooked with coal. The Zarb cooks both meat and vegetables, similar to conventional barbeques.

We offer accommodation packages that include breakfast and dinner. Visitors to the camp can purchase meals. Prices: Breakfast JOD3, Lunch JOD5, Dinner JOD10.

Traditionally tea is central to all social interaction in Bedouin culture. Upon any pause in activities or the arrival of a new visitor, it is customary to prepare a pot of tea. The tea prepared in Wadi Rum is sweet, and it is necessary to add sugar before boiling the water. You will also experience local tea infusions including sage, mint and desert herbs; considered to have health properties.

Additionally there is a selection of cold drinks and snacks available for purchase at the camp.

Sunrise & Sunset Locations

The colours of the desert landscapes change throughout the day with the high sandstone cliffs and narrow valleys. Sunrise and Sunset are particularly beautiful times to see the changing lights and shadows. The camp arranges both Sunrise and Sunset tours; either stand alone or added to other activities

The north-south valley of Khashash with tall cliffs is home to the camp. A short walk from the camp there are opportunities to see sunrise and sunset. For sunrise you can walk 20 minutes north of the camp to a high dune where you will see the sun rise from behind a small rock arch. At sunset there is a viewpoint over the vast valley which expands west a short walk south of the camp. There is also a number of memorable walks from the camp including easily accessible Khazali canyon with notable inscriptions and little bridge.
